Brooke Christa Shields was born May 31 of 1965. She began her career as a child model and received acclaim at age 12 for her leading role in Louis Malle's film Pretty Baby (1978). She continued modeling until her teens and appeared in several dramas throughout the 1980s including The Blue Lagoon (1980) as well as Franco Zeffirelli's Endless Love (1981). In 1983 Shields quit her model career to go to Princeton University where she received a bachelor's in Romance Languages.
