April Ross

April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball players who have won medals during more than one Olympics. Alix klineman, who is competing for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics is hoping to secure her third gold medal. Ross also hopes to get her very first Olympic gold. The next opportunity she gets to do so at the age of 39. Her confidence is high but she is not sure. Ross was mentioned in NBC Boston as saying that if you play your best, even if you do well, we'll get the gold. "I'm planning to test to have a bit of luck." Ross was born in California in Costa Mesa in 1982. She lived here with her father, mother and sibling. She was able to participate in numerous activities during her time at Newport Harbor High School. She played basketball and ran track, in addition to her volleyball skills in the indoors in her time as a college athlete. When she played in the final sport, she clearly stood out. In her college volleyball season in her university biography she played as a middle-blocker, outside-hitter and setter. She was awarded one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. In 2000, she was awarded her the Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross is currently working with Klineman from 2017 but her beach game had been established long before the year. In actual Ross has been a winner of several important tournaments throughout her career with two partners. One is a volleyball legend. Between 2007 and 2013 she played with Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Kessy was Ross's co-coach at the 2009 World Championships. This duo went into winning a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. They were beaten out for the gold by the legendary group comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she announced her retirement. The pair won the beach volleyball bronze in the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. In high school and the years before she hit the sand professionally, Ross played for the USC Trojans as a collegiate. Her time at USC was quite impressive. Her freshman year in 2000 earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman's of the Year awards and be an All-American. Also, she was one of the key players to help the Trojans to make it to it to the Final Four. The second season of her career she suffered a devastating personal loss and still earned the distinction of being an All-American. In her last two seasons within the team, she guided the Trojans up to the summit of the mountain by winning two three consecutive championships at the national level. As an individual, she cemented her place in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the top female volleyball players at colleges across the country. Ross, who was a USC international relations student, was a renowned volleyball player. Margie Ross was not able to see Ross reach beach volleyball's highest stage. Ross lost the breast cancer that she battled in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Ross holds her mother dear. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration to her both on and off the beach.
